Music Video | Crazy Preacher – Scary Clown – Jesus Freak – Reverend Rob

This is one of the stranger music videos I have seen… but I must say, I LOVE it!  And the song is just as great!  Has a nice tap-your-foot beat to it.  Here is some information about the band:

The Evik James Band is a gritty power pop trio based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, set this winter through summer to hit the surrounding venues, festivals and radio markets. Their new release “Under Your Sun” is fresh off the press and ready to tear through the airways into the ears of fans ranging from Tom Petty and John Cougar Mellencamp to Soul Asylum and Weezer.

The band consists of three highly explosive musicians. Evik James, is the lead vocalist and guitarist. Michael Fiato, handles bass and backing vocals. Jeff Thaves sits behind the drum set. The fresh and original music blends with interesting lyrics and sing-along melodies to create a musical cocktail that goes down easy.

Blind Melon | No Rain

Music video by Blind Melon performing No Rain.

Richard Shannon Hoon (September 26, 1967 – October 21, 1995) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. He was the frontman and lead singer of the band Blind Melon until his death from a heroin overdose in 1995.

Hoon was born in Lafayette, Indiana and raised in nearby Dayton, Indiana with his half-sister, Anna, and half-brother, Tim. Hoon reportedly began using his middle name, Shannon, to avoid confusion with his father, who was also named Richard. In high school, Hoon played football, wrestled, and was a pole vaulter. Hoon graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1985. After graduation, Hoon joined a local band named Styff Kytten, which also featured guitarist Michael Kelsey. Hoon took on the role of frontman and lead singer for the band. It was around this time that Hoon wrote his first song, “Change”. Hoon was also a member of the Lafayette band Mank Rage, along with David Lank and Darren Mickler, during this time.

I attended Purdue University and do recall watching them play in concert in local, small venues before they made it big.

RIP Shannon Hoon.

School House Rock: Figure Eight

“If you skate, you would be great… if you could make… a figure eight.  That’s a circle that turns around upon itself.” Another one of my favorites.

“Lolly, Lolly, Lolly get your adverbs here!”
